Highland Solicitors Property Centre - HelpThis page details some common problems you may have with this website, and where possible gives some solutions. |
||
| Problem 1
The website looks like figure 1 (below), with all the images out of place.
Explanation The new HSPC website uses a feature of web pages called 'layers'. This allows us to precisely place different items on the page, and also allows us to improve download times by keeping the code on the pages shorter. However, layers are only supported by version 4 browsers (Netscape and Internet Explorer). If the site looks like this to you, then you are probably one of the 0.1% of surfers still using version 3 browsers. Possible Solutions Upgrade your browser - free versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape can be found on the Microsoft and Netscape sites, but are extremely large downloads. A smaller option is Opera, which can be downloaded from www.opera.com - approx 3MB. If you can't upgrade your browser, try using the Text Only version of the site - the url www.hspc.co.uk/textindex.asp will take you into the site in that mode. Problem 2 I can't remember my password. Solution Click here to go to a page where you can enter your email address and your password will be sent to you. Alternatively, you can just register again. Problem 3 I can log in OK but I still can't see the schedules. Explanation - a The schedules are in Adobe Acrobat format (.pdf), and you'll need to have Acrobat installed on your machine. Solution - a Download Acrobat reader using the button below - it's free but is a large download for PCs - 8MB. (700K for Macs) Explanation - b The schedule opens in a new window. If your security settings are set to the highest level, then javascript is disabled and this new window cannot open automatically. Solution - b On the Schedule Downloading page click the following link - The schedule for property ref xxxxx should start downloading in a separate window. If this does not happen, click here. Problem 4 The schedules don't show up automatically - I have to click a link each time Explanation You may have a program installed on your machine to block pop-up windows. One of the most common of these is the Google toolbar. Solution Different programs will have different ways of allowing pop-ups on particular If this hasn't helped, please email the developers at info@plexusmedia.co.uk. |
