HSPC Survey

Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to our recent survey. We didn't collect people's email addresses, so can't respond to comments individually, but we'd like to respond to some of them here.

    1. It's been suggested that rather than having a separate mobile site we have a responsive one which means the site rearranges itself depending upon the size of the device using it. We are considering this at the moment - there are benefits and downsides to both approaches.
    2. On the desktop site, a few people asked about the change we made to the 'recent properties' facility, and the way the 'recent updates' works. If you now click on the New Properties button on the home page it will show you those added in the last week. In the right hand column you will then see buttons which allow you to choose the last 3 days or the last fortnight. These buttons may be what people are missing. We may set the system so that it stores your last choice in the future. Also, you can simply type 'last 10 days' or whatever number suits you into the main search box.

The 'recent updates' page shows properties where the selling solicitor has flagged up a change to the listing or to the status of the property. The order these are shown in is the most recent change, and properties stay on this list for a fortnight. We've added an 'updated' date now to highlight this.
    3. The ability to search by '20 minute drive from Inverness' was requested. That's very difficult to achieve in our area, as for instance Fortrose is only 3 miles from Ardersier as the crow flies, but 22 by car. It's more feasible if we assume Inverness is the only place people are interested in commuting distances to, so will bear this in mind for the future.
    4. We'll also consider showing all of our properties as markers on a map.
    5. One of the main things people complain about is that the comprehensive search form is not available on the home page. We may go back to providing this, but in fact the single search box fulfils most of the functions the form does. For instance, someone asked for the ability to search for rentals in an area covering say, Munlochy, Avoch, Fortrose etc. If you type 'rentals in the black isle' or 'rentals in munlochy, avoch, cromarty and fortrose' this should find what you want. If you then click the 'Save' icon at the top of the search, it'll be stored in your 'Saved Searches' panel so that you can easily return to it in the future.
    6. This along with a request for an alerts system for new properties (which does already exist on the site) shows us that we need to do more to explain what the site can do and how to get the best out of it.
    7. A couple of comments were made about property images. We always show an image of the property in search results, except on the 'All Our Properties' page, which would be very long otherwise. We do now show multiple photos per property, if the selling solicitor has added them, and we will consider making these into a slideshow. At present when you click on an image to view a larger version, you can click on the right and left sides of the large image to move to the previous and next ones.
    8. Finally, if you have further suggestions or questions, our developers would be happy to hear from you.
